The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY May 4, 2010

Outside my window...has been another glorious morning. The birds continue to chirp and fly about as I sit in my chair on the patio reading my daily bible. Bella is enthralled in these birds and she thinks they are toys to play with. I must gaurd the new flyers from her so thay have at least a chance. Sometimes I am not successful and it makes me sad.

I am thinking...how things might have been instead of how they can be. I will continue to keep in pray for God's guidance on this journey. That he will show me the way we need to go and how to get there.

I am thankful for...how God has answered so many of our prayers and that he alone knows this journey better then I. I am  thankful for the faith he gives me.

From the learning rooms...that seem to be everywhere right now. Each room has a different lesson for us and sometimes we are challenged in ways we never thought we would be. Yesterday our 'Grand' Bug stated that all my kids are divorced. As I reach for God's guidance in how to answer him, I heard his words come out of my mouth and our 'Grand' accepted my explaination. It taught me what I really already knew, that kids do see, hear and feel what is going on around them even when we try our hardest to protect them. He understood that he will know more as life grows on and that we can have this conversation anytime he has a question.

From the kitchen...will be Chicken Fajitas for dinner tonight.

I am wearing...jeans and a tee.

I am creating...everlasting memories for my family. Ones that we enjoy sharing during our family dinners. That they are adding to these creations almost daily.

I am going...to finally have a housekeeping again. It has been hard these last few weeks without one. She starts next Monday and I will be going out to stock up on the supplies she will need.

I am reading...One in a Million by Priscilla Shirer

I am hoping...that things settle down so that we can remain focused on what God wants us to.

I am hearing...all about career week at the 'Grands' school. Today was sports day and the kids were to dress up abouts a sport. Bug was a Tony Stewart racefan and Buttons went as a cheerleader.

Around the house...are many items that Bella continues to drag in from outside or pull out of her toy box. Yes, we have a towy box for her and she is so cute that she actually will drop a few back in after playing. Last night I couldn't find one of my slippers. I looked all around for it and thought to check her box by chance. Sure enough, there was my slipper. I also have a lot of the sea shells from the beach  (our unique sand box) that she continuelly plays with. Each time I take them back out, she brings them back in hours later. I have decided to let her have a few so she will leave the rest alone.

One of my favorite things...right now is watching this....

In fact I am obsessed with it right now, watching and waiting for that first egg in the nest. I have seen something similar through the San Diego Zoo...

But this Live Loon Cam is so different. It is nature in real life. I hope you check it out.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Tomorrow will be week 4 of my One in a Million Bible study group that i am so enjoying. I have thursday off from doctor's and am so excited. I might just try to do some shopping. Friday will be another 'Grand' Day arranged by the 'Grand' Bug himself. I just can't say no when they want to spend time with me or shall I say Bella. Him and Bella are becoming really good best buds. Saturday I will putt around with hubby preparing the yard and pool for Sunday. As for Mother's day, I will just enjoy what ever plans have been made for me.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Enjoying spending time with some 'Grands' on May Day.

A Bit Loony

Connie at Far Side of Fifty introduced me to this live Loon Cam.

Everyday I have watched waiting to see something besides the nest.

Well, today was that day. The two loons have been swimming around, working on their nest and even did some hanky panky. This is getting, no this has gotten my attention and I can't wait to see their my first egg in the nest.

I wish I didn't have go out this afternoon...I just might miss it.

Scraps of Our Journey

My daughter is GREAT at scrapbooking.

In my opinion...

She's PERFECT!

She makes me pages of our 'Grands'

Like the kids, she jumps right in and captures all our memories.

Even when they a Go-Carting around.

She too is paving the future.

Captures the cousins who are best friends.

Who are All American...

And enjoy everything together.

Our summer days are never forgotten.

Even from when she and her brothers were young.

From high up on the Space Needle with her kids.

To our adventures on Orcas Island.

Even to our ride on the cable cars in San Francisco.

These are just a few of her memories captured in
Our Journey Through LIFE!

Getting to Know You

Sunday is a day of rest and rest we did!

We had the most wonderful 'Grand' Day yesterday.

Would you like to get to know me?

How about getting to know other's?

Keely's Getting to Know You is a great way to start.

Hop on over and see for yourself.

The questions.....

1. Are you superstitious?
2. If you were an animal..what kind would you be?
3. You would never catch me wearing.........?
4. If someone posts a VLOG..do you watch it?
5. Have you ever waxed your girlie/manly parts..or any other part of your body?
6. Are you a spender or a saver?
7. If you were starring in a movie..who would you want to play your leading man/woman?
8. Smoker..never smoked..social smoker..or smoked back in the day?

My Answers......

1. Are you superstitious?

No not really, but yay, sometimes. I mean I don't throw salt over my shoulder but like reading my horoscope sometimes. Best when read a few days later and it's interesting that sometimes it was spot on.

2. If you were an animal..what kind would you be?

Definitely a dog. I mean, after all I have four of the four legged devoted friends. I wouldn't want to be a mutt, but a pure bred like maybe Golden Retriever or Lab. Since I love the water, so do they, but don't train me for hunting. Just love me and I will be your best friend for ever.

3. You would never catch me wearing.........?

Spandex, a bikini, to even thong panties. Give me comfort.

4. If someone posts a VLOG..do you watch it?

Most the time...when I don't, it's not by choice but the fact that my silly computer doesn't allow me to.

5. Have you ever waxed your girlie/manly parts..or any other part of your body?

Never have, nor do I think I want to wax my girlie areas. I do have my brows and upper lip done and that is enough pain for me.

6. Are you a spender or a saver?

Actually both, save so to spend and spend wisely so to save.

7. If you were starring in a movie..who would you want to play your leading man/woman?

Not so sure. Maybe someone like Josh Lucas, Matthew McConaughey or even Harrison Ford.

8. Smoker..never smoked..social smoker..or smoked back in the day?

Sad to say I am a smoker, soon to be former smoker, but not socially. If there are other people around, then I try not to offend them with my second hand smoke. Try never to smoke in front of the 'Grands" nor let them see me either. I do and have been caught by them and I hate it so...I really want to get through this quiting stage. Sometimes I do really good, then other days are harder. My goal is to be smoke free permanently and forever this year. I won't give myself a date as that seems to not work. This gradual decline in use is working and I can see my success ahead.

A 'Grand' Saturday

It was a GREAT 'Grand' Saturday.

When we arrived at their house they were outside riding the hot wheels
and cars up and down the driveway. When they saw us come up the street, they
all jumped up and, excited to see us pull up.

If that was all the day would give,
it would have been Great, but it just got better.

We blew lots of bubbles.

We created a chalk family.

While dad and grandpa worked on doing yard work,

Me and the kids went in the house. I put up this...

I wish I could figure out how to upload a video
as Giggles put on a very creative and cute puppet show
for her brother and sister. Her puppets are still
packed away so she had to compensate using
her dolls, stuffed animals and Barbie horse.

When grandpa and dad finished their work, we headed
out to go play some putt-putt golf.
Usually we play it with scorecards and as if in
a tournament. You see, my brother and I and his kids
can be very competitive. But this time,
we played it like 2, 4 and 6 year old.
We took turns putting the first ball,
but after that we just hit our balls
into the hole in no kind of order.
The kids had such a great time.
As did we!

This little man, our monkey man, had what we called
The Happy Gilmore technique.

At the end of our game we went back to our sons house, BBQ'ed,
watched the NASCAR race, watched to kids play some more,

...and watched our son create tread

...for a big wheel that didn't have traction.

How creative he is. I now see where the kids get their creativity. He will
surely being teaching them all kinds of things. Not to pat myself on the
back, but we encouraged all our kids
creativity and expanding their world.
They babysat, had paper routes, can draw, paint, sew, cook, fix, build.

Can you tell I am a very proud mom?

It was just a wonderful day all around
and I can't wait till our next visit.

Six Word Saturday

Spending The Day With The 'Grands'.

We are about 20 minutes or less from their home
and can't wait to get me some big 'Grand' hugs.

We haven't decided what we'll do..we'll let then choose. Last night they called and were so excited to learn we were coming over. I just love hearing their little voices. More, I just can't wait to see them. I will not miss a single photo op with them so check back later for an update of this 'Grand' day!

As I was typing we past the area where a sheriff was ambushed yesterday. Going 80 miles an hour doesn't allow one to take a picture. There was a lot of vehicle and search teams. The five illegals are still at large. As I type from the car there are helicopters flying overhead circling the area.

Have a great Saturday...I know we will.
