Adventure #3 - Our LONG Drive to Las Vegas

Over a week ago I finally got around to writing about one of our adventures from last month. Adventure #3 is done, in the book and can be read here. The other 8 will be up soon, and then I'll be caught up! Thankful our next adventure shouldn't happen until sometime around the middle to end of May. I am so grateful I had the layouts done before my accident so to make it easier to blog while traveling, but that was not how it ended up working out. I didn't even take my laptop with us. I was just so thankful I got to still go on the trip, I didn't want to jinx it or add anything else to it!

Being able to type one and a half handed is better than one-handed, LOL! I can actually rest my left arm on the laptop now and move just my hand as needed. Mobility has been improving too. Bruises have healed, aches and pains have reduced considerably, and only get pop pain up after exercising which I have been given and are allowed to do. What I also had was my first outpatient PT appointments last week. Went very well. Will be at them twice a week for 30 weeks. That seems like a long time but having a myopathy adds just a bit of a challenge. Plus my insurance allows me 60 visits a year, and since I have met my deductible for the year, they are covered 100%. Also no more Home Health as of the Friday before last, yay! We also stopped the nurses, or as I had been calling them, grannysitters! I had three different ladies help me over the 6 weeks, all were so helpful and allowed me to continue resting, and healing, instead of straining it trying to keep up with things myself.

Last week I got to go to the fair and watch my granddaughter show her goats. She did excellent as always. She received Grand Champion and Grand Champion Reserved for Breed with her two baby girls. Plus she got purple for their momma's! She didn't do as well in her showmanship, getting the first blue, but understood where she slipped up. Lesson learned!
Because she has two dairy goats, she needs help during the breed judging. On the left is Brook with her leader's daughter, and my granddaughter is on the right with Chloe. Even though Brook is absolutely beautiful, she does have an attitude and doesn't like to show. Chloe just LOVES strutting her stuff!
She wasn't the only one entering the ring. During the PeeWee Show, young kids not yet of age to actually enter themselves, get to check it out as well. It's my grandson 3rd year with the goats but his first for the calf.
He looks like such a pro!

That was the extent of my time at the fair this year. I didn't even get to the other exhibits. I am so stubborn to use my chair in town. It's one thing for the races, amusement parks and such, but to get around town, I would prefer to try and walk it. Only since my accident, has it been difficult. Hoping the strain will pass with therapy as we continue to work out those muscles again.

Just another week of Our Journey Through LIFE. Thanks for stopping by.

The Simple Woman's Daybook ~ March

For Today

March 31, 2018

I  almost didn't get to this...

The last six weeks have been quite interesting!
The Simple Woman's Daybook

Looking out my window...

...the view has been more accessible for the cat then it has been for me!

I am thinking...

...what an adventure it has been!

I am so thankful...

...for the many prayers said for my bones to heal correctly, avoiding any possibility of surgery. Without them, we wouldn't have been able to continue our plans for our 40th Anniversary.

One of my favorite things...

...is taking pictures!

Taking them one-handed proved to be a challenge, but am always pleased with what I get.

I am creating...

...another chapter of "Our Journey Through LIFE!".

I am wearing...

...my Lularoe's!

They are perfect! They stretch! They are so comfortable!

I am hoping...

...I can get caught up soon!

I am learning...

...to be patient. Healing is a process.

In my kitchen...

...is my hubby, making our meals, even cutting mine into pieces I can fork!

In my garden...

...you won't see any changes, just yet!

A moment from my day

Oh, What a Journey!

I can't believe it's been one month since my fall. Honestly, it seems so much longer!

The doctor appointment went great. He saw the healing he had wanted and gave us his blessing to travel under some conditions, all that I was willing to accept.

  1. Be diligent with pain management.
  2. Keep arm immobile, in other words, the brace stays on 24/7
  3. Stop every hour and a half to walk for 15 minutes
  4. Continue to exercise the hand, wrist, and elbow as pain allows
  5. No more FALLING!
I'm happy to report we followed his direction to the letter! Or is to a tee?

Wow, has it ever been a journey! It was one heck of a way to add more excitement to our adventures. Unfortunately, some had to be canceled, while others we managed to get accomplished, included more than we had planned on.

All in all, we had a great time. Eventually, I will get the post done on the incredible adventures we managed to have. Editing the 1400 plus photo takes time as well. Not comfortable snapping them one-handed.

In the meantime, I peck across the keypad, one letter at a time, letting Grammarly correct my mistakes with the click of the mouse.

Typing one handed is interesting! Call me silly, because I know there is this microphone thing to assist me, but it doesn't seem to want to cooperate with me. It could be all my fault though, just saying! In fact, all my devices are giving me a hard time. So I'm ignoring them, LOL Even my Instagram won't load. Hubby says as soon as I feel up to it and can manage to deal with the tech guru, we'll upgrade them. They are well overdue after-all!

Besides that, I have had the experience of Home Health. A nurse, the OT & PT, come once a week and a caregiver my hubby hired comes for four hours every day now that I'm home. This has been most interesting.

So that's it for today. As I continue to improve, I will continue to catch up as well.

Our 40~4~40 Has Begun

40-4-40

We had our first adventure on the list.
What a great time we had!
Only wished we could have had more of it.
It seems to be over in the blink of an eye.

I've just added another blog to the Bar above.
Or click the link under the photo above.

I hope you will pop on over and check it out.

The Simple Woman's Daybook ~ February

For Today
February 6, 2018

Looking out my window...

The hour before the sun sets, it sends a glow through the patio door.

The "Golden Hour" is probably one of my favorite times of the day.
I love playing with the natural light.

I am thinking...this wasn't the plan!

Adventure #1 of the list, our first road trip of the year was all planned out.
Then those plans were put on hold.
A few weeks later, it was back on!

Just a day after it was all booked, I learned of my Uncles passing.

I am SO thankful...for the many memories, I have of him over his 99 years.

He was General Patton's driver.
He was the uncle who always made you laugh.

He made the best meatballs!

He was our second uncle that made it to 99.

A few of my favorite things...about him.

The many years I got to spend at the fair. Being in 4-H, I had to be there before and after on most days. In between my activities, I would wander over to the main building where I would find him.

I was blessed to have been able to help him, and my Aunt Evelyn set up the Stornetta Dairy display. He worked for Stornetta's for as long as I can remember. Before that, he was a distributor of Olympia Beer. I've often wondered if that was why we lived on Olympia Court? My aunt is an aging artist who might not remember a lot these days, but she can tell you what pictures she painted around her home.

Every year he would be in the parade.
Helping out on the many floats they created was also so much fun.

He even passed out free, "Stornetta" ice cream, to the kids at the fair.

I am creating...a book (actually it's a binder) for our 40~4~40 Adventures.
Yes, we will still use the GPS, bookmarks, and my list for 95% of the travel. However, hubby likes to read a REAL map. Something about seeing the roads on paper. Everything is in those nifty protective clear page thingys that not only holds the maps but also our reservation confirmations and tickets to the events. I will be able to add brochures, receipts, stubs and other memorabilia along the way.

Basically, it will become its own scrapbook once our adventures are completed.

I am wearing...my Lularoe's!
I have acquired a decent amount of the leggings. They are just so soft and comfortable.
These are my favorite pair right now.

I am watching...the hummingbirds enjoying the morning sun.
 I was listening...to Beth Moore.

Honest Me (part 2).

Do I pray it then work it?
or
Do I pray it then obey it?

1. What's in it for me?
2. Is there a single slice of insincerity?
3. It's time to go face down and face up.

"The making of a more honest me..."

I am reading...directions on how to improve my connection for the "RING" I got for  Christmas. Time to order the WiFi booster.

I am hoping...that the next 2 weeks go as planned.

We have the opportunity to tour the construction site of ISM (formerly PIR). We'll be supplied with a hard hat and vest as we check out the new improvements to the track since November.

Hoping to check off #2 of the list.

I am learning...that life at 61 is incredible!

In my kitchen...I have been cleaning out and rearranging the drawers.

It's okay to get a head start on spring cleaning while it's still winter, right!

In my garden...there is still nothing but a big mess.

Nothing has changed in the last month.
My energy is improving but not enough to do such physical labor.
At least I got ALL my hummingbird feeders (6) filled.
I even got the pots around the porch ready for flowers.
We'll see if I make it out to the nursery this weekend,

Something that caught my eye...our commercials.

Have you seen them?

Here are a couple more...

 "Your Whole Home Drinks"

"Of All The Bodies of Water"
