The Simple Woman's Daybook ~ February

For Today

Looking out my window...

The hour before the sun sets, it sends a glow through the patio door.

The "Golden Hour" is probably one of my favorite times of the day.
I love playing with the natural light.

I am thinking...this wasn't the plan!

Adventure #1 of the list, our first road trip of the year was all planned out.
Then those plans were put on hold.
A few weeks later, it was back on!

Just a day after it was all booked, I learned of my Uncles passing.

I am SO thankful...for the many memories, I have of him over his 99 years.

He was General Patton's driver.
He was the uncle who always made you laugh.

He made the best meatballs!

He was our second uncle that made it to 99.

A few of my favorite things...about him.

The many years I got to spend at the fair. Being in 4-H, I had to be there before and after on most days. In between my activities, I would wander over to the main building where I would find him.

I was blessed to have been able to help him, and my Aunt Evelyn set up the Stornetta Dairy display. He worked for Stornetta's for as long as I can remember. Before that, he was a distributor of Olympia Beer. I've often wondered if that was why we lived on Olympia Court? My aunt is an aging artist who might not remember a lot these days, but she can tell you what pictures she painted around her home.

Every year he would be in the parade.
Helping out on the many floats they created was also so much fun.

He even passed out free, "Stornetta" ice cream, to the kids at the fair.

I am creating...a book (actually it's a binder) for our 40~4~40 Adventures.
Yes, we will still use the GPS, bookmarks, and my list for 95% of the travel. However, hubby likes to read a REAL map. Something about seeing the roads on paper. Everything is in those nifty protective clear page thingys that not only holds the maps but also our reservation confirmations and tickets to the events. I will be able to add brochures, receipts, stubs and other memorabilia along the way.

Basically, it will become its own scrapbook once our adventures are completed.

I am wearing...my Lularoe's!
I have acquired a decent amount of the leggings. They are just so soft and comfortable.
These are my favorite pair right now.

I am watching...the hummingbirds enjoying the morning sun.
 I was listening...to Beth Moore.

Honest Me (part 2).

Do I pray it then work it?
or
Do I pray it then obey it?

1. What's in it for me?
2. Is there a single slice of insincerity?
3. It's time to go face down and face up.

"The making of a more honest me..."

I am reading...directions on how to improve my connection for the "RING" I got for  Christmas. Time to order the WiFi booster.

I am hoping...that the next 2 weeks go as planned.

We have the opportunity to tour the construction site of ISM (formerly PIR). We'll be supplied with a hard hat and vest as we check out the new improvements to the track since November.

Hoping to check off #2 of the list.

I am learning...that life at 61 is incredible!

In my kitchen...I have been cleaning out and rearranging the drawers.

It's okay to get a head start on spring cleaning while it's still winter, right!

In my garden...there is still nothing but a big mess.

Nothing has changed in the last month.
My energy is improving but not enough to do such physical labor.
At least I got ALL my hummingbird feeders (6) filled.
I even got the pots around the porch ready for flowers.
We'll see if I make it out to the nursery this weekend,

Something that caught my eye...our commercials.

Have you seen them?

Here are a couple more...

 "Your Whole Home Drinks"

"Of All The Bodies of Water"
