The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY-March 16, 2010

Outside my window...it is the same as always...blue skies, slight breeze, and our puppy playing mischievously about the yard. She is such a toddler, getting into what ever her little nose finds interesting.

I am thinking...What a glorious day it is going to be and how very fortunate I am to have in my life the support of so many wonderful people. Praise God!

I am thankful for...God's blessings upon us in many ways.

From the learning rooms...This is from my reading last Saturday. In all thing's God is present and as we drove to meet up with our son, I was reading my daily Bible and found that this passage applied to what we have all been dealing with lately. It affirmed that God is with us and we will continue to look toward him for the guidance in our journey.

Psalms 56:1-13 (NTL)

1 O God, have mercy on me, for people are hounding me. My foes attack me all day long.
2 I am constantly hounded by those who slander me, and many are boldly attacking me.

3 But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

4 I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?

5 They are always twisting what I say; they spend their days plotting to harm me.

6 They come together to spy on me-watching my every step, eager to kill me.

7 Don’t let them get away with their wickedness; in your anger, O God, bring them down.

8 You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.

9 My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side!

10 I praise God for what he has promised; Yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised.

11 I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?

12 I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.

13 For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.

From the kitchen...came voices of appreciation as we cooked breakfast for two wonderful and delightful young ladies from Vanguard Universtiy of Southern California. What a joy they were to bring such sunshine into our home.

I am wearing...my pj's comfortably while I read and write for the morning.

I am creating...a journal of our life for our children, their children, and their children's children. Life can take you many places, bring growth in many ways and I hope they find my writings inspirational and helpful.

I am going...to unpack more of my treasures that have been packed away for so long. Each time I open another box or container, it's like my own little party, excited to see again the things that make our house a home.

I am reading...my One Year Bible daily and enjoying the inspiration it provides. I am also reading many other's blogs and am enjoying them as well. I think I need to pick up a good book. It's been awhile since I have read one...any suggestions.

I am hoping...my daughter feels better. Her back gives her such pain at times. I am hoping God will lift the burdens from our son and allow him the opportunity to continue being the man and dad He has plans for him to be.

I am hearing...a world of voices stressed over our economy and healthcare issues. God, please continue to guide those in authority to make the right decisions for the people they represent.

Around the house...it is quite when the puppy is sleeping. However, when she wakes, it's like the pitter patter of thunderous paws dancing and playing about.

One of my favorite things...is taking our 'Grand' Ellie Bellie to her dance class each Monday.

A few plans for the rest of the week:Hope to have the ability to continue the work outside, getting it ready for our annual Easter Egg hunt and Spring Fling. Help hubby with the last of the base boards and door casing that will finally mark the end of the remodel. If possible, get the turtle pen cleaned up and prepared for when the little guys finally come out of hibernation. Clean and prepare the guest house for our visitors from California who will be arriving for Easter Sunday in a few weeks.

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing...Happy St. Patricks Day

  2. Enjoyed your blog today..Said a pray for your son.. It is not easy going through the trials. The trials can grow us close to God and teach us to lean on him.
Blessings to you and your family.
Oh and as for books I am into Nicholas Sparks
My sister hooked me several years ago. He has come out with a few movies recently I am refusing to see them until I read the books. Learned that with seeing The Notebook before reading and The Message in the Bottle.
